YT Summary Terms of Service
By adding the YT Summary application (Application ID: 1228787849030271046) to your or any other Discord server, you understand and agree that:
-
Message access and interaction
The YT Summary app reads message content from your server only when required for its functionality and may post messages when applicable. -
User interaction and data processing
When you interact with the app — for example, by using one of its slash commands (e.g.,/summarize [url]) or tagging @YT Summary in a Discord message — your message content is processed.
This process may include retrieving a YouTube URL, obtaining the transcript of the corresponding video, and sending the video content as a prompt to the API interface of OpenAI, L.L.C. (3180 18th St, San Francisco, CA 94110, USA).
The processing is performed by OpenAI. The resulting API output (e.g., a YouTube summary) is then posted by the app as a Discord reply message.
Message content is processed only for the duration of the request and is not stored by the bot itself. -
Data storage
The YT Summary app maintains two separate data environments:
1. Bot database (Discord-side):- Discord ID
- Hashed Discord ID
- Credits Balance of Discord ID
No message content, YouTube links, transcripts, summaries, or contingent information are stored in the bot database.
2. yt-summary.com database:- Discord ID
- Hashed Discord ID
- YouTube URL submitted by the user
- Retrieved video transcript
- Generated summary text
- User quota / contingent (including daily global contingent)
This information is required to allow users to retrieve their summaries later via yt-summary.com or through the YT Summary app on Discord. Users may manage or delete their data through yt-summary.com Terms of Service.
-
Storage of generated summaries
Generated summaries are stored exclusively at yt-summary.com and can be retrieved through the YT Summary app on Discord. -
Quota and usage
Each user has a daily summary quota (contingent) that resets every 24 hours and is stored at yt-summary.com.
The free quota allows one summary per day. However, if the daily global contingent is not fully used, users may be able to generate additional summaries beyond the default one per day.
Users can also extend their quota by purchasing additional summary credits on yt-summary.com.
The quota system is used solely to manage fair usage and is associated with the user’s Discord ID.
Due to the shared credits system with other bots, using YT Summary creates a credits record in the bot database. If your credits balance reaches 0 from using other bots, YT Summary service may be limited. Note: If you only interact with YT Summary, this is not relevant as YT Summary uses contingent tracking via yt-summary.com, not the credits system. -
